I wanted this mousepad for 2 years... why does it suck? (Cerapad Kin X)

hi! i've spent quite a lot of time with one of the most confusing mousepads I've ever used, the Cerapad Kin X. the most confusing thing is why this thing even exists. timestamps below if you're not interested in the backstory.

absolutely zero ill will towards SoaR. my complaints are about the Kin X as a mousepad, not the art or any affiliated brand.

something else I noticed when first using this pad was that pushing downwards on it increased the friction quite substantially. But that seems to have gotten better, primarily in the center of the pad. Maybe there’s a break in period here? The static friction still has that sticky feeling regardless, but it’s strange to have this variance in pushing down into the pad, I’m not really sure what to make of it.
