Pocket Monsters Stadium (Japan only) - Obtaining Surfing Pikachu

Over in Japan, a sort of demo for the international Pokémon Stadium was released. In it, you can only use 42 out of the 151 Pokémon released. It seems that this was mainly made for those who wanted to get into the competitive scene, and just to give everyone a taste to see how Pokemon were in 3D. As you can see in this video, some models are still at an early stage, and are quite different from the ones we see in future 3D Pokémon games.

In the international Pokémon Stadium, players had to beat the Prime Cup Master Ball in Round 2 while using Pikachu in the final battle in order to teach it Surf. However, for Japanese players, they have to go through Lv1-30 division Master Ball, which meant that only a Pikachu between levels 1-30 could be taught Surf in Japan. As usual, the team has to be loaded from the game pak, and can't be register to the cartridge.
