Steam pumping engine in East Boston

Описание к видео Steam pumping engine in East Boston

One of the last working steam engines in Boston. It had been in use for nearly a century and was replaced by a diesel a month after I took this video. This is not a resurrected machine, but one doing its daily job -- even if it was a humble one, pumping sewage to the Deer Island treatment plant. Lovers of steam engines would be interested to know that it is a radial triple-expansion engine with a vertical crankshaft. The man explaining the engine was William Brogan, and the oiler was King Anthony.
