The Pentagon announces plans to improve drone detection and tracking at military sites following increased drone sightings across the US. Pentagon Press Secretary Major General Patrick Ryder states that new measures include active and passive systems and drone busters to disrupt signals. Picatinny Arsenal and Naval Weapons Station Earle in New Jersey already receive these upgrades. Ryder confirms the reported drones in New Jersey and other areas are not Department of Defense assets. Officials note many sightings involve commercial hobby or law enforcement drones and natural phenomena. Out of over 5,000 reports in the northeastern US fewer than 100 need further investigation.
