Super Moment became the first and only horse to win the Bay Meadows Handicap three consecutive years by capturing the 1980, 1981, and 1982 editions of the race for 3-year-olds and up. He was trained by Ron McAnally for owner/breeder Elmendorf. He was ridden to victory by Fernando Toro in 1980, Laffit Pincay in 1981, and Russell Baze in 1982.

A versatile runner, Super Moment won the Bay Meadows Handicap on the dirt in 1980 and on soft turf in 1981 and yielding turf in 1982. Other major wins in his career were the 1981 Strub Stakes, 1982 San Marcos Handicap, and 1982 San Bernadino Handicap. He was fourth in the 1980 Kentucky Derby. The 1982 Bay Meadows Handicap was the final start of his career. He retired with a record of 47-10-8-5 and $1,017,940 in earnings.
