To cook masala appe, the appe pan is heated, and a small amount of oil or ghee (clarified butter) is added to each mold. Then, a spoonful of the batter is poured into each mold, filling them up. The appe are cooked on medium heat until the bottom side becomes golden brown and crisp. They are then flipped using a skewer or spoon to cook the other side until it turns golden as well. The result is a batch of round-shaped, bite-sized appe with a crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior.

2 cup Semolina
1 cup Yogurt
Salt to Taste
1 tbsp grated ginger
1/2 cup coriander leaves
1/2 tbsp chili flakes
1/4 tbsp Baking soda
Refined oil/ Mustard seeds
8-10 Curry leaves
2 chopped Green Chilies
2 chopped Onion
1 chopped Capsicum
1 tbsp Schezwan sauce
2 tbsp Tomato ketchup
1/4 tbsp Kashmiri Lal Chilli Powder

Masala appe is typically served hot as a breakfast or snack item. It is often enjoyed with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, sambar (a lentil-based vegetable stew), or any other preferred accompaniment. The dish is popular in South India, especially in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, where it is a common street food and a regular feature in households.
