Nexus 7 USB OTG Cable functionality

My $2 USB OTG cable arrived today for my Nexus 7 tablet. I purchased it primarily to access USB flash drives. I decided to connect a USB mouse and keyboard to it to see how it reacted. The tablet instantly recognized both the keyboard and mouse (the keyboard has a built-in USB hub). A mouse cursor appeared on the screen and I could use it pretty much exactly how you'd use a full PC. Even most of the media keys on the keyboard function. As I note in the video my tablet is not currently rooted. For un-rooted tablets you need to purchase and install the Nexus Media Importer app found on the Google Play Store if you want to access the content on USB flash drives. It is read-only so you cannot copy files TO the flash drive but you can copy and access files FROM the flash drive. If you have a rooted tablet then you can have full access to the flash drive.
