What is a music genre?

There are more than 40 music genres.
Examples: Alternative, Pop, Rock, Classical, Children’s music, Country, Electronic, etc.

With the advent of technology, there are incredible mashups of different styles. Genres become blurred, and they become sub-genres.

Should you specialize?

Generally, production music composers write in a variety of genres, depending on circumstances.
Examples: TV shows, Video Games, Films, Commercials etc.
