In this video, we will show how to perform mass updates on your R730 server via the Lifecycle Controller. You will need an active Internet connection, a switch, and a NIC installed in your R730. You will also need some Ethernet cables. You will want to connect your R730 to your network so it has Internet access. You can do this by connecting the R730's NIC to the switch and then setting an IP address. You can then run updates via HTTPs in Lifecycle controller. Depending on the last time your updated your system, these updates can literally take hours and hours. The speed and power of your system as well as the number of updates selected also plays a role in how long these updates will take. We run our servers overnight and sometimes come back in and the updates have not finished.... so yes be patient and expect this to take a fair amount of time. Setting up the updates will only take a matter of minutes and is relatively easy.
