A massive milestone for the dedicated team at the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) located at the Illawarra Airport , Albion Park NSW Australia. On the 9 12 2021 the team restoring the Fokker FV11B test ran for the first time the three engines that have been meticulously overhauled . Two of the engines were started and ran for a number of minutes each but one engine just needs some more TLC .

All the HARS Fokker Southern Cross replica team have worked tirelessly to restore the Fokker FV11B replica to its soon to be flying status. Many have watched the Fokker replica being repaired and restored after its undercarriage failure on the 25 May 2002 that damaged 3 mtrs of the wing tip. The aircraft has been completely overhauled to soon be flying again in the foreseeable future.

It will be a great day when it finally takes to the sky over Sydney again to remind Australians of the great Australian flying pioneer Sir Charles Kingsford Smith who flew a Fokker FV11B in the 1920s and 1930s.

The 3 engines are Jacobs R-775 A2 7 Cyl air cooled Radial. 12.4 Lts @ 300 bhp each.
