Assalam O Alikum Friends!

FBR has launched a new tax profiling system with the help of NADRA. Its also called Citizen tax net system.

Under the system, you can access your information regarding your income, taxes you paid, the car you bought and all other important information that the government has on file will be accessible online.

Go to taxnet.nadra.gov.pk and create an account. You need your CNIC and a registered mobile phone number under your name. If you want to access from outside of Pakistan, you can use your email address.

The system will then send you a verification code on your mobile and/or on the email address, enter it and it will take you to the next step, which is citizen verification.

The system will ask you two questions about your family to confirm its actually you and if the answers are correct, it will verify you and log you in into the system.

If your answer incorrectly, it will block you after 3 attempts.

After verification, you need to pay Rs 500 through E.sahulat or via debit/credit card to access your information which will be valid for 4 months. After 4 months, you will have to repay Rs 500.

The system received some criticism regarding the access to information as it contains data of more than 53 million people of Pakistan.

But the 3 steps verification system closes any doors for identity theft.
Some are arguing that it may get hacked but we expect that all safety measures have been taken before launching this system.
Some people fear the blackmailing by the corrupt employees of the FBR.

We must understand if the data is publicly available no body can black mail you as they know you now have access to your information.

This is also a good example of data synchronization in Pakistan.

The future of Pakistan relies heavily on technology and the systematic advancement of government institutions is an important step in achieving this goal.
