As big Summer sporting events in Victoria draw closer, Premier Daniel Andrews says he has been “working very closely” with the ICC and the MCG in a bid to ensure popular competitions can go ahead.

“We have been working very closely with the Australian Open, working closely with the Boxing Day test,” he said.

The premier added the government was talking to the groups putting on the events about the additional logistics to ensure a COVIDSafe environment would be maintained.

“People should rest assured we're working very hard to make sure that we've got as many options as possible for things like the cricket".

“The partnership with the ICC and the MCG is very strong.”
