Dirang, 42 km from Bomdila, is a small town on the banks of River Kameng. It serves as the gateway to the city of Tawang. It is famous for its Thupsung Dhargye Ling Monastery, Hot water springs, Apple and Kiwi orchards, National Yak Research and Breeding Centre at Nigmadung, Sheep Breeding Farm and Sangti Valley where Siberian black necked storks visit during winters.

*Tourist Spots in Dirang*

1. Thupsung Dhargye Ling Monastery: it is a monastery and learning institute for the study of Tibetan Buddhism by laypeople and monks, located in the Himalayan village of Dirang, India. The name, Thupsung Dhargye Ling was given by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and means: "Place of Flourishing of the Buddha's Speech". The best time to view the beauty of this place is during sunrise when the bright & vibrant colours of the monastery give you very positive vibrations. A guest house is attached to the monastery with a small shop & canteen. The rooms are spacious & comfortable with the required amenities.

2. Hot Water Spring: Dirang is famous for its hot water spring. The Dirang hot water spring is on the way to Tawang from Dirang in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. It is believed that in the hot water spring all types of diseases can be cure since the water is rich in sulfur which makes the water of hot water spring rich in medical properties. Many people from different parts of India visit the hot water spring of Dirang. One can reach the hot water spring by hiring a taxi from Dirang town and the taxis are easily available. The distance from Dirang to Dirang hot water spring is approximately 10 minutes drive which is almost three and a half kilometer from the main town Dirang.

3. National Yak Research Centre: ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (ICAR-NRC on Yak) is a premier research institute proactively engaged in research and development of yak (Peophagus grunniens L.) and is the sole authority on research strategy formulation for sustainable development of yak husbandry in the country. The institute was established in 1989 at Dirang (1500 m above msl) in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The experimental yak farm of ICAR-NRC on Yak was set up in 1995 at Nyukmadung (2750 m above msl) which is located about 31 km from Dirang township at a diversion of Tezpur-Tawang highway.

4. Sangti Valley: Sangti valley is situated about 14 kilometres from Dirang. It is surrounded by the towering ranges of Eastern Himalayas, blessed with pleasant weather round the year with maybe some light snowfall in the winter months, covered with fruit orchards (kiwi fruit, apple, apricot, orange), dotted with pristine forests and meandering fast hill rivers.And it is also home to the black necked cranes who come to the fields of this valley every winter.
