Murphy's Law - The Great Northern Trek

Описание к видео Murphy's Law - The Great Northern Trek

From their 1998 album "Never The Same Way Twice".

Song written by one of the members, Ken Campbell.

He dedicated the song to Martin Sillett, Gus Bennett, & Paulus Semigak.

For further context, the band recorded this album in Happy Valley Goose Bay (Newfoundland), so I would assume they were based out of Labrador.

Lyrics:
Verse
I left with the band,
That cold winter's day.
On grudging machines,
We faded away.
Past frozen ravines,
Our hunter's thoughts soared.
Up high on the land,
(Those) snow machines roared.

Chorus
In hardship we live,
In hardship we die.
On the great northern plains,
Many wildlife lie.

Verse
We followed the leader,
Ignored all the rules.
Caught in a fever,
Behaving like fools.
The air it grew silent,
Around the outside.
We dismissed the unknown,
(And) continue to ride.

Chorus
In hardship we live,
In hardship we die.
On the great northern plains,
Many wildlife lie.

Verse
It suddenly struck,
Like a howling Banshee.
We were unprepared,
(But) protected by trees.
We ran out of gas,
Lost most of our food.
[We] walked [on] half-blind,
Numb and confused.

Chorus
In hardship we live,
In hardship we die.
On the great northern plains,
Many wildlife lie.

Verse
The unmerciful wind,
Attacked us like flies.
Til most of us dropped,
Half frozen and died.
We thought that we knew,
What lay [out] (there) in store.
But old mother nature,
She settled [her] (the) score.

Chorus
In hardship we live,
In hardship we die.
On the great northern plains,
Many wildlife lie.

Chorus
In hardship we live,
In hardship we die.
On the great northern plains,
Many wildlife lie.
