As the Union and Confederate Armies moved South from The Wilderness to Spotsylvania Court House, they briefly clashed at Todd's Tavern, fighting for control of the Brock Road (again). 83 years earlier on the same ground, the Marquis de Lafayette camped with 3,000 Continental soldiers on their way to Virginia to being the Revolutionary War to a close.

The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.
