Scales of Measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio scales explained
Welcome to this Blahzinga Intro to Statistics episode about scales of measurement.

In psychology there are a number of ways of measuring things. The scale we chose depends on the information that the data is intending to represent. There are four scales of measurement. These are nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio scales. Understanding the differences between these and being able to identify which is which is important since it will guide you in selecting the statistic to analyze your data.
Here I explain what ordinal, interval, and ratio scales are and the type of statistical technique typically used to analyse them.
