Pro-Palestine activists disrupted the filming of Israeli actress Gal Gadot’s latest movie The Runner in London last week, reportedly resulting in her having to leave the set.

Gadot, who served her mandatory military duty in the Israeli army for two years, has long been vocal in her advocacy for Israel and supported Israel’s military on social media during its 2014 and 2023 wars on Gaza. She also took part in campaigns to tie Israel to women’s empowerment.

On 12 October 2023 she also criticised the killing of innocent Palestinians in Israel’s war on Gaza on her social media, sparking backlash in Israel which prompted Gadot to issue an apology and delete the post. Since then, Gadot has not made mention of Palestinians or adjacent terms in either interviews or social media.

Gadot’s stance was previously the subject of controversy in Disney’s live action remake of Snow White, where she reportedly clashed with pro-Palestine actress Rachel Zegler during filming.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has called on people to boycott streaming service Disney+, citing Gadot’s inclusion in Snow White as one of the reasons.
