EXPLORING THE JULIAN ALPS | Driving the VRSIC PASS and SOCA RIVER VALLEY in SLOVENIA

Описание к видео EXPLORING THE JULIAN ALPS | Driving the VRSIC PASS and SOCA RIVER VALLEY in SLOVENIA

On this episode of Mapping It, we spend the day exploring the Julian Alps in Slovenia!

We start our road trip with a visit to Planica Nordic Center to check out the ski jumping hills and marvel at the height of the world’s largest ski flying hill.

Our journey continues with a morning drive up and over the 50 hairpin turns of the Vrsic Pass. Along the way, we visit the Russian Chapel, get stopped by sheep, and enjoy a field filled with wildflowers.

Our exploration of the Soca River Valley continues and we stop at the Church of St Joseph to see some very interesting symbolism with connections to World War One and World War Two, before we continue on to the Great Soca Gorge.

After a stop at an impressive Italian Mausoleum in Kobarid, we stop at a local market to pick up some snacks and souvenirs before continuing on.

The last stops we make in Slovenia are to marvel at some very impressive old bridges, Kanal Most and Solkan Most - both are breathtaking and absolutely worth the stop! That wraps up our time in Slovenia - on to Croatia in the next one!

We hope you enjoy coming along on our adventures!
