Traditional Scottish Food in Inverness, Scotland

Описание к видео Traditional Scottish Food in Inverness, Scotland

As we started on the North Coast 500, we enjoyed some time in Inverness. We stayed at Shamerbrea and had dinner at the Cleikum Social Eating Club with Karen, our AirBnB host. Karin is a member of the Slow Food Movement and has been a host for them for three years. Following the principles of Slow Food, everything we ate was in season, followed traditional recipes, and sustainable. Karen even foraged for our chanterelle mushrooms earlier that day. A cleikum is a Scottish tradition of offering a social eating experience surrounded by good people and exceptional food. Karen certainly provided all of that in the comfort of her home. We were also renting out two rooms in her house, so the entire experience felt like we were staying with a friend. And by the time we left, that's exactly how it was. We enjoyed the dinner and the breakfast, which included the foraged mushrooms on soda bread, haggis meatballs, a beef cooked in bacon, onions, garlic and red wine and finished with a Tipsy Laird dessert. For breakfast we had homemade porridge, fresh fruit smoothies, eggs, stuffed portobello mushrooms, black pudding, and avocado toast. The food was magnificent, but the company was even better. Jonathan enjoyed talking history, genealogy, and culture while we planned our time in the Scottish Highlands.
