This traditional dance song is to the farmers or Sonampas of the high Tibetan plateau. For centuries they fiercely guarded their land and often immortalized the beauty of their land and the joy of their life through folk songs and dances. This kind of dance song can happen around changing season, farming and to celebrate the joy of harvest season. They are often referred to as field songs or dance, and help hard working farmers to recover from fatigue and enjoy their field work. During farming and harvesting times, farmers toil through the day and often gather in the evening for folk songs and circle dance. Growing up as a Tibetan performing artist, I Have always developed a special fondness and a sense of deep longing for these kinds of traditional dance songs of the Tibetan farmers. "Gorshey Choe kyi shingsa" is one such dance song. As you enjoy this dance song, I can only hope it sways us momentarily back to our ancestral lands. To all my fans and everyone, please enjoy "Gorshey Choe kyi Shingsa."
