Radio Master MT12 Review and Field Test 20241117

I’ve had my hiccups in setting up my models on the MT12 4IN1 Pistol Grip Radio but in time I got the hang of it just like any other person would.

I basically copied the mix from my Taranis X9D stick radio onto the MT12 so that I have the capability of switching back to my Taranis X9D should the need arise that all I would need to do is re-bind each model’s receiver back onto the proper model slot.

My MT12 4IN1 will never be using its ELRS side capability which is why I used the original ELRS mount to become the mount for my ARKBIRD V2 Head Tracker and collapsible cell phone mount which can still fit inside the radio case when not mounted. As for powering up the head tracker, I did find a 5v source on the main board just below the RETURN button. The positive lead was routed to a toggle switch just behind the antenna onto the left side of the radio where my index finger can reach it to turn the power on or off to the head tracker when it is not in use to save battery life for radio use.

My field test on my RCBR 2.0 rescue boat and King Of Shaves 36” FE boat was amazing. I did not have any low TX connection alarms or glitches on the water to about 200 meters and most importantly, no runaways. I know I could have gone further but there was no need to for me to do so. I am using a Motive RC R8SB 9CH D8 receiver on the RCBR 2.0 under IRF Type FrSky D, D8. As for the KOS 36, I am using a FrSky X8R 8CH, D16 receiver with the Failsafe set to RECEIVER. 5 more models to test.

I love this radio to say the least. It is definitely a good transmitter to buy at such a low price.
