If you haven’t looked at your Uber Wallet settings this year, you need to review them NOW! 🌍💸
If you plan to use Uber in the US, Canada, or the Eurozone don’t get hit with extra fees! Starting on Feb 27, 2025 Uber’s Preferred Currency Pricing goes into effect and it might automatically charge you in your home currency. At first that sounds like a convenient idea, until you travel outside your home currency and get hit with a 1.5% conversion fee FOR EVERY RIDE!

Just follow these steps simple steps now to avoid this fee :
1️⃣ Check your fare settings in the app now! Open the Uber app, go to Account - Wallet - Preferred Currency.

2️⃣ Set your Preferred Currency to “No Preferred Currency”. This means Uber will charge you based on the local currency of wherever you’re at. Otherwise, If you’re away from your home country, you’ll have to pay the 1.5% fee.

3️⃣ Update your Payment Method to a card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees. If you travel abroad and don’t follow steps 2 & 3 before you book an Uber, you will be charged TWICE - once for Uber’s 1.5% fee and another 1-3% fee from your card issuer. ALWAYS CHECK your bank’s foreign transaction fees to avoid surprises
