One of biggest things I see skaters struggle with when it comes to the sit spin is getting their butt low enough to reach the required 90 degree positions. There is a difference between spinning in a seated position and a sit spin. Spins that do not reach 90 degrees or lower for the required amount of revolutions will not be eligible to receive a level in competition. A very common mistake a lot of skaters make is leaning their upper body forward but keeping their butt high in the air. This is why a lot of skaters feel that they are low enough despite actually reaching the correct sit position.
