As Aston Martin approached its centenary year in 2013, the company was looking for a way to explore the connections between its automotive ‘power, beauty and soul’ philosophy in the high performance segment of the yachting world. Quintessence Yachts was chosen as the partners for this venture after being impressed by the company’s concept and development proposals.

Since the concept definition stage, the AM37 had first of all to be a powerboat with excellent performances and handling. Therefore, Quintessence Yachts selected a designer and naval architect with great experience in fast yachts, who could share the key values of the project. Mulder Design has proven to be the best choice ever, providing the AM37 with innovative design solutions and contents.

The key to a Quintessence Yachts powerboat is the way in which a high-tech composite structure is allied to sports car-like handling, performance and comfort. The manufacturing process expresses the same high quality standards of the automotive luxury brands, the same superb attention to details combined with a design which is new and timeless in equal measure.

Aston Martin has designed the AM37 in conjunction with Mulder Design after being approached by Quintessence Yachts, whose founder is a classic Aston Martin owner.

The first working prototype is yet to be built, and will be expected in September 2015.

Mariella Mengozzi, CEO at Quintessence Yachts, said: “The Aston Martin Design department has been working seamlessly with the Quintessence R&D unit and naval architect Mulder Design in Amsterdam to achieve a true example of design purity."

Naval architect Bas Mulder provides the yachting expertise behind the vacuum-infused composite hull. When combined with a carbon fibre superstructure, this should deliver the handling, performance and comfort of a luxury sports car.

Aston Martin flourishes include the iconic winged emblem on the transom and a rear diffuser. The main deck layout will feature twin helm seats ahead of a u-shaped cockpit seating area. Other premium features include a voice-activated navigation and entertainment system.

Below decks, the AM37 will get a compact heads, galley and a convertible u-shaped saloon that can turn into a double berth.
