Sons de Carilhões by João Pernambuco is a groovy little piece that is extremely popular for good reason. Not only is it fun to play, but also very expressive,  where there are lot of different ways to really bring this work to life. The title ‘Sons de Carilhões’ translates to english as 'Sounds of Bells.’
João Pernambuco, was one of the founders of the Brasilian guitar choro style, his compositions demonstrating the central qualities of the classic choro.  Pernambucos music was so admired and respected in Brazil and beyond, that Villa Lobos claimed that the great J.S Bach would have not been embarrassed to sign his name to them.  We actually have villa lobos to thank for exposing and sharing Pernambucos music outside of the contemporary community of choro musicians.
