DIY Wrap Dress Sewing Tutorial | How to Make a Wrap Dress Without a Pattern

Learn how to make a wrap dress without a pattern in my latest step by step sewing tutorial. It’s made with stretchy fabric so it’s easier to get a great fit than some traditional wrap dress patterns, plus the knit fabric makes it comfortable to wear!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

-At least 2.5 yards of a medium weight four way stretch knit fabric (I used a little over 2.5 yards of a DTY Knit Fabric, which is a medium weight smooth feeling four way stretch knit; you’ll definitely need more if you want to make a maxi wrap dress or a larger size)

-A fitted shirt with sleeves to use as a template

-A piece of tracing paper or tissue paper to use to trace the sleeve - I use this tracing paper: https://amzn.to/2IOmXo5 *

-Tape Measure

I’m very happy with the outcome and I think that this dress will be a great wardrobe staple! Wrap dresses are so flattering on so many shapes – the v-neck and waist ties give the illusion of curves on smaller frames and accentuate the waistline on plus size figures, so I think this project will work for a lot of different body types. I break it down and explain all the steps as clear and as easy as possible so you can confidently make your own wrap dress. I think this will be a great tutorial for those of you who have some experience using a sewing machine and have a basic understanding of clothing construction!
