You can discover the Volendam of the 19th and 20th centuries in the Volendam Museum. Step back in time and see what Volendam looked like from 1850 to 1950. Visit the interiors of the houses in the historic fishing village and learn everything about the world-famous Volendam traditional costume.
The exhibition "Volendam, a musical journey through the century" provides an overview of Volendam's rich musical history, never before seen on this scale. From the successes of The Cats and BZN via Jan Smit and Nick and Simon to the 'different sound of Volendam' with bands such as Alasca and Mell and Vintage Future. 100 years of musical success from Volendam are being celebrated through never-before-seen photos, medals and special relics.
From March 3 to the end of 2024, the Volendam Museum will be dedicated to music. Music and Volendam are inextricably linked and the music of Volendam artists has achieved worldwide success.
