2 Required but simple Charlie Parker licks you need to know.

Charlie Parker had a couple chord subs that he played over when playing over the 5 chord. In a 2-5-1 in Bb, the Cm7 is the 2 chord, the F7 is the 5 chord and the BbMaj7 is the 1 chord.

Bird would sometimes use A7 over the F7 and other times use BMaj7 over the F7 chord. The A7 came from swing music where chords would often transition from a 2 chord (Cm7) to #2dim7 (C#dim7) to a Dm7 (A Bbmaj9 in 1st inversion).

The Bmaj7 chord is just a parallel voice leading from the 2 chord to a b2 and then to the 1 chord.

Don't get hung up on the theory though. Theory exists to explain what musicians wrote or performed, not the other way around.
