Another challenging 3Gun match is in the books! Duskin 3Gun at Fort Bragg was some serious work! This match was scored “time plus” i.e. your raw time, plus time added for penalties and poor marksmanship on paper (aka points down). An A-zone hit was zero time added, a C-zone hit was .5 second added, and a D-zone hit was 1.5 seconds added. Also, leaving any grease ring whatsoever on the edge of a no-shoot (white paper) even if you didn’t break the perf was considered a full penalty. So accuracy mattered! At most 3Gun matches you can hose 2 shots anywhere on paper, but here, getting all A’s is crucial so I had to aim harder and go a little slower than I would have under a different scoring system. Things to work on for next year: building my upper body strength to improve my spider monkey skill set, and HIIT (High-intensity interval training) to increase my stamina & strength, as each stage was about 1-2.5 minutes long and I was gassing out intermittently. I finished 49th out of 171 people in the Tac Ops division at 67% of division winner, but there was no Lady category at this match so it’s unclear how many women shot it. This was a match unlike any other with a majority of the shooters being active duty military.
