Right before he is supposed to leave for the church, Sonny remembers his nightmare of Brenda dying like Lily did. He decides he cannot go through with the wedding and tells Jason he is not going to marry Brenda. Jason begs him not to do it but Sonny says if he stays with her, she will die. He can't have the death of another woman on his hands. When Jason asks Sonny what he should tell Brenda, he famously says: "Tell her it was a great ride."
