Indonesia is preparing up to 8,000 soldiers for a potential deployment to Gaza, according to the country’s military leadership. Army chief General Maruli Simanjuntak said troop training has begun, with personnel expected to serve primarily in medical and engineering roles.

The proposed deployment is linked to phase two of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire framework. Indonesian officials said the mission would be connected to a broader international stabilisation effort aimed at securing border areas and supporting post-conflict arrangements. The stabilisation mechanism has been described as operating under a United Nations Security Council mandate to establish an International Stabilisation Force.

Authorities said the force’s objectives would include maintaining security conditions and supporting demilitarisation measures. The timing and operational details of any Indonesian troop deployment have not yet been finalised.
