Cars: Better Than You Remember?⎮A Pixar Discussion

Pixar is consistently heralded as a master studio n animated story telling, with many people believing it is head and shoulders amongst most other contenders, including it’s parent company Disney. With most movies receiving a 90+% critics and audience score, it is little wonder that Pixar fans hold them in high regard. However with that reputation, comes a farther fall of grace if a story does not live up to the audience’s preconceived expectation from them. And this is shown most prevalently with Pixar’s franchise Cars. A trilogy that is viewed largely as a cash grab to sell toys, and in most of the internet’s mind at least, lacks any narrative depth that is typically associated with the animation studio. But since my Lightyear Trailer Breakdown, I’ve been on a Pixar high, and have started looking back at these old films, and questioning even my previous opinions on these movies, including Cars. And at least in my eyes, I’ve decided that Cars , at the very least the first one, gets much more of a bad rap than it really deserves. And so today, I thought I’d discuss this in depth as to why Cars seems to be an underrated franchise in terms of audience acclaim.
