INGREDIENTS

2 lb of cubed steak
1 tsp low sodium soy sauce
1 tsp of sazón (adobo; chicken bouillon powder)
1/2 tsp ground dominican oregano
4 cloves of garlic, minced
black pepper
1 lime
3 cups of water to cook meat( use more or less)

1/2 of a medium red onion, sliced
1/2 of a medium red bell pepper, sliced
1/2 of a medium green bell pepper, sliced

INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a large bowl, add meat and season with chicken bouillon powder, black pepper, lime juice, soy sauce, oregano and minced garlic. Mix together until all the ingredients are well blended. Marinated for better flavor, but is not necessary.

2. In a large pot ove medium high heat , add cooking oil and allow to get hot. Add beef, Lower heat to medium, give it a stir and cover and cook until the meat absorb its own juices.

3. When there’s no more juices in the pan, add 1 cup of water at a time and continue cooking the meat covered until is tender. If the meat is still not tender after it had absorbed the water, continue adding 1 cup water , repeat until is tender.

4. The meat was tender after 50 minutes with 3 cups of water used to braised (the time and water needed will depend on the cut of meat you use)

5. Once the beef is tender, add sliced onion and peppers, stir to combine, add few tablespoons of water and mix. Cover and cook for about 2 minutes. Turn off heat.

6. Serve with rice, rice and beans, fried plantains or whatever your heart desires.
