In this tutorial, we’ll use a basic turret gun game to demonstrate some advanced clone usage. We want to be able to sense individual clones when they are created. In order to do that, we must use local variables in Scratch.

Local variables create a copy of a sprite’s variable for the individual clone. That’s so the clone has its own independent version. Think of it like the main sprite is Mum or Dad and the clone is a child. The name of the variable is like our last name. That’s usually what is the same between you and your parents. Your first name is what is unique to you.

When we use local variables, we can sense individual clones and their values.
