Do you find the slip stitch round usually recommended for starting an envelope border around an overlay mosaic crochet project awkward or time consuming? I know I do ...

I initially developed a method using front post sts, which was a definite improvement in my opinion (see my Easy Envelope Border video    • Easy Envelope Border - Quick Start Me...  ), but it can be a little bulky for some finer projects.
And then, while laying awake in the middle of the night, I had a bit of a 'lightbulb' moment!
With just a simple adjustment to the way you work your edge stitches (adding a chain between the edge stitch and the design) you can quickly and easily pick up the stitches for your border without the need for a round of slip stitches, and without the extra bulk from front post sts!

But don't worry if you have already completed your project, I have also come up with a way to bypass the slip stitch round on a project crocheted in the traditional overlay mosaic crochet way.
