50 years later, 2024 in Review.
This short "sizzle-reel" is a vignette presenting some of last year's highlights with Industry, Government Agencies, and Academia as National BDPA, Inc. closes out its 49th year in "record territory." Local BDPA success stories near you included, but were not necessarily limited to:
• The White House's National Cyber Czar, The Honorable Harry Coker, Jr., keynoting BDPACON '24
• Women-Owned Small Business (WoSB) Mission-Partners and a few BDPA co-sponsors from the BOW Collective were honored by NASDAQ in New York
• BDPA attended SC24, the annual international high-performance computing (HPC) conference
• BDPA Atlanta served as host chapter for BDPACON '24 and SC24
• BDPA Atlanta Wins High School Computer Competition and eSPORTS National Championships during BDPACON '24
• BDPA New Jersey, BDPA Indy, BDPA Twin Cities, and BDPA-DC supported BDPA's Robotics Academy
• BDPA Baltimore served as host chapter for Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) 38 and JROTC Units from Maryland
• BDPA Houston served as host chapter for AFROTECH 2024 and our HBCU Chapter site visit at PVAMU
• BDPA Memphis served as host chapter for SRC/BDPACON South 2024
• BDPA Indy supported the annual Lilly Symposium for college student members and entry level I.T. professionals during BDPACON '24
• BDPA Columbus supported DataScience panel and workshops during BDPACON '24
• BDPA Monroe served as host chapter for 2024 STEM Academy in support of BDPACON '24
• BDPA Northern Virginia (NoVa) and BDPA-DC co-hosted CyberEarth24, BDPA's 8th annual Earth Day Tech Summit
• BDPA™ and bdpatoday® surpassed 25,000 connections and followers on LinkedIn, YouTube playlists, and other social media channels in 2024
• BDPA Cleveland captured a $15,000 grant
• BDPA Baltimore, BDPA Columbus, BDPA NoVA, and BDPA Portland achieved or maintained full operating capability (FoC), up from Initial operating capability (IoC)
• BDPA Virginia State University (VSU) achieved or maintained Initial operating Capability (IoC) and attended BDPACON '24 with support from a grant
• All major indices, BITCOIN, MAG-7 firms, and several BDPA Sponsors saw their respective stock prices reach record highs on Wall Street
• BDPA™ and bdpatoday® surpassed 25,000 connections and followers on LinkedIn, YouTube playlists, and other social media channels in 2024
• BDPA and Local BDPA Chapters captured over $1.1 million in grants and sponsorships the highest on record for the Association since its founding in 1975.
Also honored are a few icons from BDPA, Industry, and Government who are no longer with us from 2024.

BDPA was co-founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania circa 1975 as "Black Data Processing Associates" by Earl A. Pace, Jr. and the late David Wimberly. BDPA is an international organization with a diverse membership of professionals and students at every level in the fields of information technology (I.T.), computer science, cyber, and related S.T.E.M. fields.
Since 1975, BDPA Members are actively engaged in serving their respective communities through outreach and charting the future of digital transformation across all industry sectors. Since 1986, tens of thousands of BDPA Members, Student Members, and HBCU/MI alumni have participated in the Association's renowned technology conferences, innovation summits, and career expos. College and high school students also competed in the Association's national or regional computer, coding, Mobile AppDev, and I.T. Showcase competitions.
