Track 17 from their twelfth release and first double album “Exile on Main St.” released in 1972 copyright Rolling Stones Records. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in London and Jagger’s Stargroves Estate during the “Sticky Fingers” sessions and in lengthy sessions held at a rented villa in the south of France using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. Overdubs were added later at Sunset Sound in L.A. The group decided to live in the south of France as tax exiles to avoid the high tax rates in England at the time, hence the name of the album. It received mixed reviews at the time of its release but is now recognized almost unanimously by critics as their greatest work and one of the best examples of pure roots rock ‘n’ roll containing all the influences that created the genre. It reached No. 1 in six countries and made the Top Ten in another four. It achieved Gold status in a couple of weeks and was certified Platinum in 2000. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2012. Written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards and produced by Jimmy Miller. Saw you stretched out in Room 1009
With a smile on your face and a tear right in your eye
Oh, couldn't see to get a light on you
My sweet honey love

Burberry jewelry janglin' down the street
Makin' bloodshot eyes at every woman that you meet
Could not think to get a high on you
My sweet honey love

May the good Lord shine a light on you
Make every song your favorite tune
May the good Lord shine a light on you
Warm like the evenin' sun

And when you're drunk in the alley, baby
With your clothes all torn
When your late-night friends leave you
In the cold grey dawn
Whoa, just seemed too many flies on you
I just can't brush 'em off

Angels beatin' all their wings in time
With smiles on their faces and a gleam right in their eyes
Whoa, thought I heard one sigh for you
Come on up, come on up, now
Come on up, now, ah, yeah

May the good Lord (shine a light on you) yeah
Make every song you sing your favorite tune
May the good Lord (shine a light on you, yeah)
Warm like the evenin' sun
Now, now, now, now, yeah

Come on up now, come on up now
Come on up now, come on up, come on

(May the good Lord shine a light on you) yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right, Lord
Make every song you sing your favourite tune, ah, yeah
(May the good Lord shine a light on you) Mama, Mama
Whoa, like the evenin' sun, no, no, no, no, no, no, yeah
Yeah, yeah
