A South Korean soldier left a hospital today with a new prosthetic leg following four months of rehabilitation... for the injury suffered in a landmine blast blamed on North Korea back in August.
Having lost a leg serving for the military... the 23－year－old staff sergeant still wants to return to protecting this nation.

Dressed in a combat uniform staff sergeant Kim Jung－won appears in front of the camera looking confident as he is discharged from the hospital after receiving rehabilitation treatment.
Although Kim leaves with a prosthetic leg as his right ankle was severed from a North Korean land mine in August， the staff sergeant says he is happy to return to daily life.

″I was devastated by the thought that I wouldn′t be able to walk.
Seeing myself walk and run I realized how valuable it is to be able to walk.″
Kim was acknowledged for evacuating his fellow soldier who stepped on a land mine during a routine search operation inside the heavily fortified demilitarized zone.
That′s when another North Korean land mine exploded， seriously injuring Kim.
Jogging on both legs the staff sergeant expressed hope to continue his service in the military.

″I don′t know whether I will return to the First Infantry Division. Even if I don′t return there， I hope to serve in the military using my other capabilities.″
Kim′s fellow soldier sergeant Ha Jae－hun will continue his rehab in the hospital until the end of this month.
Acknowledging both staff sergeants′ contributions， Kim and Ha will be promoted to sergeant first class next year.
