-Dipping back to one of the unique pristine recordings I have from the 60s-70s. The Yankees were on their way to finishing last for the first time since 1912, but a rookie pitcher named Fritz Peterson offered some promise for the future. From 1966 to 1974 he was the best Yankee pitcher on the staff behind Mel Stottlemyre. Following the infamous "Wife swap" scandal with teammate Mike Kekich and with his career on the downside, he was traded to Cleveland in April 1974 in a deal that gave the Yankees two valuable cogs of their late 70s dynasty in Chris Chambliss and Dick Tidrow.

-Amongst those playing for the Angels that night are Lew Burdette, originally signed by the Yankees in 1950 and who baffled them in the 1957 World Series for Milwaukee, Norm Siebern who had been traded by the Yankees in the Roger Maris deal (Roger was injured and not playing at this point) and Jay Johnstone who would be on the 1978 Yankees World Championship team.

-Red Barber, Phil Rizzuto, Joe Garagiola and Jerry Coleman with the call on WCBS Radio. Barber would be fired before the month was over.
