AMU alumnus, renowned businessman and philanthropist Frank F Islam was in India recently to inaugurate two key centres of learning that his foundation financed on the campus of the Aligarh Muslim University.

The two buildings have been built by the financial grant received from Frank and Debbie Islam Foundation. But, the violence caused by the provocation of Republic TV representatives meant that Frank Islam was not able to travel to Aligarh and had to return to the US disappointed.

He will now return to India in October to inaugurate Frank & Debbie Islam Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre and Frank and Debbie Islam Auditorium on the AMU campus.

Born in Azamgarh, Frank Islam is arguably one of the most successful exports of the AMU. He's an information technology entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist, civic leader, and writer, who also heads the FI Investment Group.

He was the founder and CEO of the QSS Group. US President Barack Obama appointed him to be the General Trustee of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2013. He also sits on the board of several renowned educiational institutions around the globe.

He's been investing in the field of education for a long time but it was another AMU alumnus and US-based businessman, Ali Rizvi, who persuaded him to consider the AMU for his future investment. This has led to a huge flow of investment by Frank Islam in the AMU, which he aims to convert into a a centre of learning as successful as Stanford University.
