So James has been in touch as have many other people across England and Wales.

He bought this house using the government help to buy scheme and has recently had to start paying interest on the equity share loan.

He wanted to know is it possible to remortgage his property and to pay back the equity loan in full?

And the answer to this is absolutely, yes you can re-mortgage your property to a higher loan-to-value and pay back the equity share loan.

But things to remember are that the loan paid back is a percentage of the current market value and this may have increased since you originally bought your property.
