Falling Star-Gerda Blok Wilson

Commissioned by St. Patrick's Regional High School Concert Choir for choir and orchestra, Falling Star premiered on June 22, 2024, at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver, Canada.

The poem Falling Star symbolizes the high school experience and graduation, where the star represents students' fleeting potential and dreams, shining brightly but quickly fading. Graduation marks the end of this intense, priceless period as students make wishes for the future and embark on new adventures, leaving behind cherished memories and aspirations. The composition seeks to capture these emotions.
