I started working on this video before the most recent Unity controversy happened, but I'm still happy to take advantage of it for views anyway.
I finished working on this video long after the Unity controversy blew over. Wow. This took me a while.

CORRECTIONS:
-You most definitely can expose node references directly in the inspector, without needing NodePaths. It works in the exact same way as Unity.
GPU Particles are now the way to go, as of 4.2, and they now support drag with the damping_via_friction flag.
