The final surviving sibling of Rev. Billy Graham, Jean Graham Ford, passes away at age 91.
Billy Graham's sister Jean Graham Ford, the renowned evangelical preacher's last surviving sibling, passed away. She was ninety-one.
In a social media post on February 29, the Rev. Franklin Graham, Ford's nephew and Graham's son, stated that Ford and her husband Leighton Ford had supported Graham during his entire ministry and that Graham had sought her counsel and advice on a variety of topics. Billy Graham spent the majority of his life in Montreat, a small town east of Asheville in Western North Carolina.
On the morning of February 21, Graham passed away in his sleep at his Montreat home. At the age of 99, he was arguably the world's most famous evangelist during his lifetime. Through his crusades and other events, he is estimated by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to have preached to 215 million people.
"Thankful for the support and loyalty of his faithful and loving wife," Franklin Graham said of Leighton Ford, who became an evangelist after meeting Ford at Wheaton College.
Billy Graham, the eldest of Frank and Morrow Graham's four children, was raised on a dairy farm. The youngest child was Jean. At the age of eleven, she contracted polio, which caused her throat to become paralyzed.
