They called me a witch,
A sinner, a bitch,
A curse upon the earth,
A danger to men,
A threat to their power.
For centuries
They burned me at the stake,
They drowned me in the river,
They locked me in their houses,
They silenced me in their books,
They erased me from their history,
They mocked my words,
They chained my dreams,
They bought and sold my body,
They traded my name like property,
They judged my clothes,
They judged my voice,
They judged my laughter,
They punished my freedom,
They feared my mind,
They feared my will,
They feared my ability to simply exist.
But here I stand.
Breathing.
Unbroken.
Still here.
I will not bow,
I will not fade,
I won’t be silent or hidden away.
No fire, no water, no stone will break me,
No voice, no law, no god can erase me.
I am here
Unbought, unshaken, unafraid.
They told me to shrink,
To smile more,
To speak less,
To apologize for taking space,
For dreaming too loudly,
For walking alone at night,
For saying “no,”
For daring to live.
They wrote a world where I was second,
Where my worth was measured
By the men surrounding me,
By the babies I might carry,
By the silence I could endure.
But I rise again,
From every ash they left behind.
I will not bow,
I will not fade,
I won’t be silent or hidden away.
No fire, no water, no stone will break me,
No voice, no law, no god can erase me.
I am here
Unbought, unshaken, unafraid.
I am the daughters of the forgotten,
The sisters of the unspoken,
The mothers of the undefeated.
Every woman who ever lived walks with me.
