Starkey's newest rechargeable hearing aids, Starkey Genesis AI, are WATERPROOF!

If you're worried about your hearing aids getting wet or ruined from sweat, or from accidentally jumping in the shower with them on, we have good news for you! Starkey's newest rechargeable hearing aids are waterproof! We completely designed them from the inside out with maximum quality and durability in mind by adding more gaskets, silicone seals, additional protective nano-coating inside and out, and a fully enclosed lithium-ion battery.

All consumer electronic devices (including hearing aids) go through extensive testing to get ingress protection rating, or IP rating, based on how resistant they are to moisture and dust. The highest rating for a hearing aid is IP68. Our newest hearing aids (including our custom devices) have an IP68 rating and are put through additional quality testing. However, we took our testing even further with our rechargeable hearing aids and put them through a "torture chamber" of sorts for hearing aids.

We performed an additional six tests beyond what is required to verify they are waterproof for up to 1m of depth. We even did accelerated aging tests to ensure they maintain their waterproof capability for years to come!

So, what does waterproof mean!?

Well, we don't recommend swimming or showering with them. While the hearing aids should be fine, it's just not very comfortable for you, and swimming or jumping into a body of water may cause the hearing aid to fall off. Rather, these are designed to maintain durability and performance for the lifetimes of the device, no matter what life throws at them!

This means they'll survive:

1.) Heavy sweat
2.) Getting caught in a rain storm
3.) Living in a humid climate
4.) Dropping your hearing aids in snow
5.) When you do accidentally jump in the shower with them on

We know that life happens, and our new hearing aids are prepared for it! Remember, these are waterproof, not invincible! So, you still need to follow your hearing care professional's daily cleaning and maintenance instructions:

1.) Remember to wipe the hearing aid at the end of the day

2.) Change your wax guard as needed

3.) Consider a dehumidifier or cleaning from your hearing care professional if you submerge your hearing aid in water
