Kanchan da elaborates on the wilful obliteration of the influence of the Brahmo Samaj not only in the 300 centres in Bengal but also Sindh. How Sardar Dayal Singh, whole remaining a Sikh gives generous endowments to the Samaj and even opens the Dayal Singh college in Delhi. How under Debendranath Tagore the Samaj becomes conservative and inelastic with long lasting effect and Keshab Chandra Sen's attempt to make it a missionary movement inspired and drawn close to the Church - his first fatal flaw and the second to marry his minor daughter, flouting Brahmo Marriage Act, to the Royal family of Coochbehar. Debendranath then takes back the leadership of the movement which reaches its peak under Rabindra Tagore when he infuses it with liberal elements of Vaishnavism.
