Weather balloon bursting on the Away 132 high altitude platform.
Both at full speed and in slow motion that will really let you see what’s going on. You can even see the parachute starting to deploy as the Earth spins.
The balloon carried the platform to 96,806 feet before blowing apart right on schedule. It took about 107 minutes to reach that altitude. I like to climb at 900 feet per minute and the flight team completely nailed the climb on this one.
On board we had an airship valve test, student experiments, 4 cameras, three of commercial projects to pay for it all, and even some toys on deck for fun.
Flights were conducted by JP Aerospace, America's OTHER Space Program.
