Justin Strode - House On The Horizon | GUITAR, BASS, and SYNTH PLAYTHROUGH

Описание к видео Justin Strode - House On The Horizon | GUITAR, BASS, and SYNTH PLAYTHROUGH

Hey everyone! We're back at Okzygen after a brief vacation (not that you would have known thanks to the magic of scheduled videos), and to kick things back off we're diving into some of the old original tunes. This one has been kicking around for at least 10 years in some form or another, and used to be one of my best performing songs from before that whole channel reboot thing happened. Granted, back then it was under 3 minutes long and existed as a rather bare-bones composition, with just a couple guitars and a basic drum beat to fill in the empty spaces. Needless to say, this one has more stuff in it.

As you can tell by the beard, the bass was tracked first in a solid take, followed by the guitars and then the synth, with the drums being written to the song during the recording process. It's honestly one of my favourite ways to compose and record music; start out on bass with a basic idea of song structure (adding some groove and fills here and there), move onto a basic drum skeleton to add motion and energy, then fill in the melody and rhythm with guitars and other accent instruments while building up the rest of the composition. One of these days I'll be doing a more thorough video on creating like this, and maybe use this damn KORG Drumlogue that's been sitting on this desk for a few months now.

The song itself comes from something like 12 years ago, originally from an old "demo" album that was self released way back before I knew any of this mixing crap. If you can find an original copy of Transcending Memories, then I implore you that you DO NOT LISTEN TO IT. It's crap. The mix is crap. It's just, everything's loud, bad EQ, no compression, just a limiter on the master buss and if I recall right, way too much delay on way too many things. That being said, I'm looking at taking a number of the songs from Transcending Memories and the very first release (The Right Questions) and giving them a fresh look. The Long Road Home actually came from TM as well, so it's likely I'll get around to redoing a good chunk of the other songs soon.

Anyways, this is a lot of words so I'm gonna cut it here. Hope you enjoy the video, and as always give it a like and subscribe to the channel to keep updated on all the new things!
