1992 - 2000 GM OBS Truck SUV Rear Power Door Lock Actuator Solenoid Replacement (Chevy Cadillac GMC)

In this video we will repair a sticky, sluggish or even dead power door lock actuator in the back row seat of a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban LT. The passenger side is shown, but the procedure is the same for the drivers side back row seat as well. The front row seat doors use the same GM part numbers and mounting style, but the disassembly of the door trim and hardware is going to be somewhat different. I've linked a different unrelated one of my videos that is about a different door handle repair, but it does show the front door disassembly for you as a upper right corner circle "i" button you can tap inside this video. There is one part number for the LH (drivers) side and one for the RH (passenger) side regardless of the row as well as a universal part number (where you have to reuse your existing solenoid mounting bracket).

What will typically happen when these 1990s old body style (OBS) truck actuators go out is the doors will not lock or unlock reliably in cold weather. Eventually they will stop working altogether, even when the temperature warms up. It's a fairly easy repair to replace one for the rear row seats, taking about 30 minutes if you have all the tools and parts handy before you begin. This repair is applicable to all 92 93 94 95 96 97 98 99 and some early carry over 2000 old body style (OBS) model Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, and Escalade sport utility vehicles SUV from Chevrolet Cadillac GMC and Holden.
